Ingredients

Adjust Servings:
SET - A ------- ( Dough )
5 cups All- Purpose Flour
200 ml Warm Fresh Milk
200 ml Warm Water
160 ml Vegetable Oil
1 tsp Salt
1 TBSP Granulated Sugar
40 g Fresh Yeast
SET - B -------- ( To Coat )
75 ml Molasses
Sesame Seeds
75 ml Water

Simit is one of the most common pastries in Turkey with Borek. Most of Turkish people eat sesame bagel almost every morning, for breakfast.

Making Dough

- Mix SET A in a mixing bowl, add flour gradually while kneading by hand
- Knead to form smooth and soft to touch dough
- Cover with tea towel and set aside for 30 min

Baking

- Meanwhile, mix 75 ml of molasses with 75 ml of water.
- Take tangerine sized pieces from the dough and roll into balls.
- Divide each ball into 2 pieces.
- Roll each piece into a long rope and wrap them over each other, then meet the ends to form a ring.
- Dip each ring first into a molasses mixture then dip in sesame seeds, making sure they are fully coated with the seeds.
- Place them on a parchment lined baking tray.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes in an oven preheated at 200 °C.
